主角在旅途中将碰到各种伙伴：半精灵的小偷和骗子Niam还有好色的巫师Zurbaran。

《黑色守卫》中包括了大量致命生物和其他类型的敌人，还有超过170张风格迥异的地图。

在《黑色守卫》中，玩家扮演的是一个被定罪的杀人凶手，在一群队友的帮助下，将功赎罪，去拯救面临黑暗威胁的世界。
